About the board
The Port Franklin Public Purpose and Recreation Reserve Committee of Management is a voluntary committee responsible for overseeing the management of several assets which are situated on the Crown land reserves that are located within the coastal area of Port Franklin.
These areas of Crown land have long been used for active and passive recreation.
About the role
The Port Franklin Public Purposes and Recreation Reserve Committee of Management comprises of between three and nine members who bring together a variety of skills and experiences, usually locally based and have a keen interest in the reserve.
- A committee of management may:
- Undertake maintenance works and improvements
- Enter into licence, lease or other tenure agreements
- Collect rental and fees for use of the reserve
- Expend funds on the reserve
- Establish volunteer groups, or employ people, to assist with managing the reserve
- Make regulations for the use of the reserve
- Take legal proceedings where necessary
The term of appointment is for three years commencing the end of November 2025. Committee meetings are typically held monthly.
These positions provide an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future protection, management and planning of the Coastal Reserve’s future.

Other desired skills and knowledge may include public sector governance, insurance, risk, and a knowledge of natural local environment.
