About the board
The Minister for Health, The Hon Mary-Anne Thomas MP, is seeking expressions of interest from individuals to join the Multicultural Health Advisory Committee (the Advisory Committee).
Ten members including a Deputy Chair are being sought for the Advisory Committee.
The Advisory Committee provides people from Victoria's multicultural communities and health sector with a forum to advise the Victorian Government on community insights, experience and expertise related to health priorities for Victoria. It is chaired by Kat Theophanous MP.
Members of the Advisory Committee provide advice drawing on lived experience, professional expertise, and community perspectives to inform government policies, programs, and services for multicultural communities.
The Advisory Committee's strategic focus aligns with the Department of Health's Multicultural Health Action Plan 2023-27, as well as relevant Victorian Government multicultural strategies and plans led by the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
About the role
Appointments are for a three-year term from November 2025 to November 2028.
Meetings will be held quarterly and run for approximately two hours. Meetings will usually be held online, with any in-person commitments given appropriate notice.
Members will provide independent advice informed by lived experience, expertise and understanding of the health priorities and needs of multicultural communities in Victoria. This includes critically analysing information to identify practical solutions and convey a range of views that reflect diverse and intersectional experiences.
Members will be expected to represent the diverse experiences of multicultural communities and health sector, and not specific communities or organisations.
In addition, the Deputy Chair will lead and enable inclusive and constructive engagement across the Advisory Committee. The Deputy Chair will work closely with the Chair and Secretariat to help achieve the delivery of the Committee’s objectives and workplan.
Members are remunerated for their participation in line with the Victorian Government's Appointment and Remuneration Guidelines <https://www.vic.gov.au/guidelines-appointment-remuneration>.
Members are expected to adhere to the Victorian Public Sector Commission’s Code of Conduct for Directors of Victorian Public Entities (March 2024) <https://www.vpsc.vic.gov.au/ethics-behaviours-culture/codes-of-conduct/…;.
