Purpose
The Local Jobs First Commissioners powers and functions are established through the Local Jobs First Act 2003 (Act). The Commissioner is responsible for monitoring and reporting on compliance with the Local Jobs First Policy and Local Industry Development Plans (LIDPs), and for taking enforcement action in relation to breaches of the Local Jobs First Policy, LIDPs and the Act. The Commissioners compliance powers ensure that agencies and contractors involved in government procurement understand their obligations under the Act. The Commissioner also advocates for local businesses, workers, apprentices, trainees and cadets, ensuring that they continue to benefit from Victorian Government procurement.
