Purpose
The Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health was established in December 1997 and is responsible for the statewide provision of adult forensic mental health services in Victoria. The Institute provides, promotes and assists in the provision and planning of forensic mental health and related services in Victoria, and as far as practicable, oversees and coordinates those services, including specialist clinical services, together with a court service, research, training, professional education and services for victims of crime.
