About the Board
Victoria was the first state to pass voluntary assisted dying legislation. The legislation established a Voluntary Assisted Dying Review Board to monitor the safe operation of the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2017 (the Act). The functions of the Board are set out in Part 9 of the Act. By joining the Board, you will play an important role in continuing to shape the future of healthcare and supporting end-of-life choices within our community.
About the Role
Board member (legal)
We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong legal background to join our Board. You’ll contribute to strategic governance and be able to provide clear independent advice on compliance and other quality and safety elements of the program. You will have sound judgement, demonstrated legal expertise, preferably in healthcare, and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical, consumer, and government stakeholders.
Board member (consumer)
We are seeking a consumer representative who can bring lived experience of voluntary assisted dying to the Board’s deliberations – whether that be as a family member, carer or close friend. You will champion the consumer voice, offering insight into access, and safety and quality of the voluntary assisted dying program, and help ensure that our decisions remain balanced and grounded in real-life experience. Confidentiality, independence and commitment to respectful, inclusive engagement are essential.
