About the board
The Department of Health is pleased to invite applications for part time board director positions of Robinvale District Health Services, with terms of office commencing from 1 July 2023.
Robinvale District Health Services is a multipurpose service that provides a diverse range of services to across a catchment area of approximately 60,000 square kilometres. In addition to service delivery in its immediate area, Robinvale District Health Services provides outreach services to the communities of Ouyen, Manangatang and Boundary Bend in Victoria.
Robinvale District Health Services operates 20 acute beds, 54 residential aged care places, and provides Urgent Care services to both the Robinvale and Manangatang communities. A comprehensive range of additional services includes Renal Dialysis, Medical Imaging, Midwifery, Visiting Nursing, Allied Health and Early Years.
The functions of the board of a public hospital include developing statements of priorities and strategic plans for the operation of the public hospital, monitoring compliance; overseeing financial and business plans, strategies and budgets to ensure the accountable and efficient provision of health care and the long term viability of the public hospital.
About the role
The Board is accountable to the Minister of the day for the delivery of services to a high quality, safe and in a cost-effective way. Directors are required to attend a monthly board meeting of approximately 1-2 hours duration. The Robinvale District Health Services board meets the last Wednesday of each month at 4.30 pm. Directors are also involved in various board subcommittees which include:
• Executive Committee (including Capital Works and Projects)
• Finance and Audit Committee
• Clinical Governance Committee
These positions provide an exciting opportunity for members of the Victorian public with relevant experience and capabilities to contribute to the strategic leadership of public health care delivery to the community.
The role of the board includes:
• setting the vision, strategy and direction of the organisation, in line with government priorities
• having ultimate accountability for the delivery of safe and quality care, including cultural safety
• leadership succession planning and performance management of the Chief Executive Officer
• overall oversight of the performance and delivery of key policy priorities
• ensuring the ongoing financial viability of the organisation.

According to the Department of Premier and Cabinet's Appointment and Remuneration Guidelines (the Guidelines), an applicant should not hold more than three positions on Government boards at any one time. The selection panel will not consider more than five applications to public health boards. If more than five positions are applied for, only the first five will be considered.

Board directors of public hospitals and multi purpose services are eligible to receive remuneration under the Guidelines. Public hospital or multi purpose service boards are classified as C1 or A5 organisations pursuant to the Guidelines and directors are remunerated on a per day or per annum basis.
