The Patient Review Panel is an independent tribunal established under the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act 2008 (the ART Act). The Panel determines complex and sensitive applications for assisted reproductive treatment. This includes applications for:

The Panel determines complex and sensitive applications for assisted reproductive treatment. A more detailed description is available in the attached position description.
A member can expect to sit on approximately 8-10 half day hearings per year and attend other meetings as required. Each half day hearing is approximately four hours.
Candidates must be currently registered, or eligible for registration, as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia and have skills and expertise in clinical medicine. Experience as a general practitioner, obstetrician or an assisted reproductive treatment specialist will be highly valued.
Those currently working in clinical assisted reproductive treatment or employed by a registered ART provider or who have a financial interest in a registered ART provider may not be considered for appointment due to a potential, perceived or actual conflict of interest. If a person or a member of their family owns shares in an IVF clinic/business they are not eligible to apply due to the conflict of interest.
Applicants must reside in Victoria.
