The MMA Board consists of 3 to 5 members and are appointed for a period of up to 3 years. The term of office for the vacancy will be up to three years.
The MMA Board generally meets once a month, mostly at the organisation's office in Epping, Melbourne. Members are expected to attend a minimum of 75% of meetings and make a significant contribution to the organisation.
The Chairperson is appointed by the Minister for Agriculture. Board members report to the Chairperson.
The Minister for Agriculture is seeking expressions of interest for the role of Chairperson of the MMA Board for a 3-year term.
Emphasis will be placed on candidates who can demonstrate strong leadership through organisational transition. The MMA requires a chairperson capable of providing stability, maintaining stakeholder confidence, reinforcing a positive organisational culture and leading the development and implementation of the Authority's strategic direction.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to unite the board, support executive succession, provide clear governance oversight and guide the organisation through a period of change while positioning it for long-term success. Effective leadership, sound judgement and the ability to ensure strong governance during this period will be critical.
