The Victorian Local Government Act 2020 improves the standard of behaviour of local councillors and provides a clear process for dealing with councillor misconduct by internal arbitration processes.
The Department of Government Services invites expressions of interest for appointment to a Panel List from which members will be selected to hear and determine applications against councillors for misconduct.

To be eligible for appointment to the Panel List, applicants must be Australian lawyers, with at least five years’ experience or have other experience considered relevant to the position. This includes: skills and experience relating to tribunals and dispute resolution, governance, ethics and probity knowledge of local government.
