The Biosecurity Reference Group (BRG) is an advisory group established by Agriculture Victoria to support implementation of Victoria's Biosecurity Strategy.
Biosecurity protects Victoria's agriculture, environment, economy and communities from pests, diseases and other risks. Delivering strong biosecurity outcomes requires collaboration across government, industry, communities and land managers.
The BRG brings together members from across sectors, regions and communities to provide strategic advice, insights and perspectives on biosecurity issues and the implementation of the Strategy.
The group reflects the principle that biosecurity is a shared responsibility and plays an important role in supporting collaboration and collective action across the biosecurity system.
The BRG generally meets quarterly (up to six meetings per year), with occasional out-of-session activities.
The Chief Executive, Agriculture Victoria is seeking expressions of interest for member positions on the Biosecurity Reference Group from individuals with experience, knowledge or strong networks in one or more areas relevant to Victoria’s biosecurity system, such as agriculture, environment, community, supply chains, research or First Nations knowledge.
Applicants should be able to contribute a system-wide perspective and work collaboratively with others to support implementation of Victoria’s Biosecurity Strategy.
