Purpose
Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) was established under the Public Records Act 1973 for the better preservation, management and utilisation of the public records of the State. The functions of the Public Records Advisory Council are to promote cooperation between PROV and public offices in consultation with the Keeper of Public Records (Director of PROV), and to report and make recommendations to the Minister on any matter relating to the administration of the Public Records Act 1973. Membership of the Public Records Advisory Council is currently on an honorary (unpaid) basis.
