Purpose
The Local Government Inspectorate is an administrative office of the Department of Justice and Community Safety operating as an independent integrity agency, with the Chief Municipal Inspector reporting to the Attorney-General. The Local Government Inspectorate assesses compliance with the Local Government Act 2020 (the Act), which is the guiding legislation for Victoria's local government municipalities.
